  • Educational Visits

As St John’s CE Academy grows, this is the range of opportunities we aspire to provide for our pupils. We aim to offer a broad programme of Local, National and Global Experiences that enrich learning beyond the classroom and help pupils experience life in all its fullness. While not every pupil will take part in every opportunity, we are committed to providing a varied and inclusive programme so that all students can engage over time.

Across the years, pupils may have opportunities to take part in no cost, low cost and higher cost experiences such as curriculum-linked day visits, residentials, cultural visits, sports fixtures, competitions, performances, volunteering, leadership opportunities and wider enrichment activities. Together, these experiences help pupils develop confidence, character, independence and a stronger sense of connection to their peers, their community and the wider world.

How do I sign up for a trip?

As our programme develops, trips and visits will be shared with families through our agreed school communication systems. Where booking is required, clear information will be provided about deadlines, payments, expectations and any key arrangements. Parents and carers will be able to secure places by following the process outlined for each visit.

    What are the payment options?

Not all trips or experiences will involve a cost. Where payment is required, we aim to provide information as early as possible so families have time to plan. For larger experiences, staged payments may be offered to help spread the cost and allow the school to meet booking deadlines with providers. Full details will always be shared in advance.

What support is available for families?

We want all pupils to benefit from enrichment opportunities wherever possible. Support may be available for eligible families for some trips, visits or activities. This may include subsidised places or financial assistance, depending on the experience and funding available at the time.

    Is additional financial assistance available?

We recognise that families may experience financial pressures at different times. Where possible, we may seek charitable or external funding to support participation in trips and visits. These funds are limited and cannot be guaranteed, but we will always explore whether support may be available. If you would like to discuss this, please contact the school via enquiries. All conversations will be handled sensitively and respectfully.

What happens if payment deadlines are missed?

Where payments are required, families should follow the deadlines shared for each experience. If deadlines are missed, reminders may be issued and, in some cases, places may need to be offered to another pupil or released in line with provider deadlines

Can I withdraw my child after signing up?

Once a place has been confirmed and bookings have been made, refunds may depend on the costs already committed by the school and the terms set by the provider. Full details for cancellation arrangements will be shared for each individual trip or visit

How are places allocated if demand is high?

Where an experience is oversubscribed, places will be allocated using a fair and transparent process. This may include a ballot, priority criteria or a waiting list, depending on the nature of the opportunity. Details will always be shared in advance.
