PSHE

Here at St John's we aim to create a calm, caring and responsible climate for learning where all children are able to acheive.

Our PSHE curriculum (Personal, Social and Health Education) enables our children to become safe, healthy, independent and responsible members of a society. It aims to help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, and tackles many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up.

We strive to provide our children with learning opportunities across and beyond the curriculum through special visits and other activities that enrich pupils’ experiences. It allows pupils to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society. Our pupils are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth and responsibility by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community.

At St John's we use the 'Family Links' scheme for our children in EYFS and 'You, Me, PSHE' scheme for our children in Year 1-6. This covers the statutory aspects of the Relationships and Sex Education, and Health Education Guidance.

Our provision is enhanced through trips and visits, enrichment events and assemblies which cover a range of social, moral and ethical issues as well as a range of pupil leadership opportunities for pupils across the school.
